Susan Donahue began painting in 2009. Her art education has been acquired through self-directed, independent study. She began painting by following the instruction of Mark Carder and has taken workshops from Julian Merrow-Smith and Rod Weagant.
Susan works exclusively in oils. She works in the tradition of realism and employs some of the techniques of impressionism. She aims to maintain the abstraction of nature in her work. She paints mostly the landscapes of the Methow Valley in Washington State, where she lives, and other locations that she visits. She also paints still life and portraits.
